"That night there were shepherds staying in the fields nearby, guarding their flocks of sheep. Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them” (Luke 2:8, 9).
Have you been fast asleep in the darkness then someone turned on the light? You probably blinked and maybe even covered your eyes as you adjusted to the brightness that suddenly surrounded you. Perhaps being woken up so suddenly even scared you a little. Maybe that’s what the shepherds experienced that first Christmas when they saw the glory of God.
